Description
"Bharatanatyam" is one of India's 8 exquisite classical dance forms. It originated in southern India in the state of Tamilnadu. It started as a temple dance tradition called Dasiyattam (the dance of the maid-servants) 2000 years ago.
Bharata Natyam has two aspects, lasya, the graceful feminine lines and movements, and tandava (the dance of Shiva), masculine aspect. It consists of elaborate gestures (Mridu Angaharas, movements of limbs), sentiments (Rasas), emotional states (Bhavas). Actions (Kriyas) are its soul. Seen here is one of the traditional poses adopted. Also seen is a unique costume and set of jewelry known as "Temple Jewelry" that dancers wear during a performance.
This is my original artwork, staying true to my signature style of drawing. Its drawn with fine-liner pens on paper.
